The "Slate River" Airfield is located in the beautiful "Slate River Valley", near the "Candy Mountain" ski resort outside of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. Local pilots and air traffic controllers also refer to the airfield as the "Candy Mountain Airfield". The small farm and airfield is owned by an enthusiastic flying family involved in grass roots aviation. It is a private, non licensed, farm landing strip, surrounded by hay fields, trees, and hills.

Thunder Bay is located on the North shore of Lake Superior. Winter in Thunder Bay is long; that is when we envy those living with their airplanes in Florida flying communities. However, summer in Thunder Bay is beautiful, fresh, "air conditioned", complimented by breathtaking scenery with forests, lakes, and clear skies.

We would like to share this northern summer with the flying fraternity. Join us in a celebration of summer while camping under the wings and enjoying life.
